EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. — Members of the Army’s 7th Special Forces Group stationed at Eglin Air Force Base are fighting for childcare at Camp Bull Simons.
They’ve been lobbying lawmakers for years to get a childcare facility at the property — which is located in Crestview about 45-minutes north of the main base — and blame base leaders for not allowing it.
Florida Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott sent letters this month to the secretaries of the Air Force and Army, asking them to solve the problem.
Most of the 7th Special Forces Group lives near Crestview, and have up to 450 children under the age of four who don’t have access to a child development center.
